The launch of the Summer issue of Poetry London features live readings from Timothy Donnelly, Karen McCarthy-Woolf, Abigail Parry and Jack Underwood. The evening will be hosted by the magazine’s Poetry Co-Editor, Martha Kapos. This will be the last Summer launch for Martha. Timothy Donnelly is an American poet. His books include The Cloud Corporation, published to much acclaim in the UK by Picador, and winner of the 2012 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Prize, and The Problem of the Many, which is forthcoming this October. He teaches in the Writing Program at Columbia University and lives in Brooklyn. ‘The Cloud Corporation is the best collection I’ve read in ages; every poem contains something unexpected and unexpectedly powerful: the kind of poetry you hope to find, and rarely do’ – Nick Laird

Abigail Parry’s first collection, Jinx, was published by Bloodaxe in 2018. She is currently translating Cuban poet Legna Rodríguez Iglesias with the Poetry Translation Centre, and working on a stage production with physical theatre company Frantic Assembly. Her work is forthcoming in Granta and at the Wellcome Collection, and she has contributed to anthologies of visual poetics from Sidekick Books.

Karen McCArthy Woolf, born in London to English and Jamaican parents, has published two poetry collections. An Aviary of Small Birds was described as ‘extraordinarily moving and technically flawless’ The Poetry Review and a ‘pitch perfect debut’ The Guardian. She makes radio features for BBC’s radios 3 and 4, and has presented her work across the globe.

Jack Underwood won an Eric Gregory Award in 2007, was named a Faber New Poet in 2009 and his debut collection, Happiness, published by Faber in 2015, won the Somerset Maugham Award. His poems have appeared internationally in magazines, and have been translated into seven different languages. He is Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at Goldsmiths College.
